Short description

CEA (a French governmental organization) is involved in desalination since many years. Modelling of desalination systems and coupling these systems with heat and power sources is one of its activities in this field.

 

The developed software is a model allowing sizing and calculating capital and water cost of vertical plastic tubes MED unit. Input is a capacity target or an available thermal power. It includes thermo-compression option. Costs are calculated trough detailed cost functions. An optimization function and costs actualization over plant life are included. Material and energy balance for carbon footprint evaluation is also a functionality of the software. It is also possible to predict the production and required heat power of a given unit when its operating parameters change. Current version: v17.4
