DURABILITY OF MATERIALS AND COATINGS FOR SOLAR REFLECTORS

Short description

Evaluation of the durability of materials and coatings used in solar reflectors under different artificial aging environments (temperature, humidity, radiation and contaminants (Cl-, SO2, NO2) and under natural aging conditions (atmospheres with different corrosivities)

Main technical features

  1. To compare different materials and coatings and rank their durability; quality control, materials and coatings development, product qualification and lifetime prediction.
  2. To better understand the performance behaviour of the reflectors materials in distinct environments with different corrosivities (LUMIAR/LISBOA-PORTUGAL test site with corrosivity C2-C3 (low-medium corrosivity) and SINES-PORTUGAL test site with corrosivity C5-CX (very high-extreme corrosivity) (Both test sites with continuous monitoring climatic parameters and corrosivity).

Innovative aspects

To understand the degradation mechanisms of different technological solutions under different artificial and natural environments.

Applications

Materials and Coatings for CSP components
