Durability analysis of solar reflectors

Short description

CEA (a French governmental organization) is involved in ageing and characterization of CSP components since many years.

Studying the durability of materials used in solar reflectors by applying both real outdoor conditions and accelerated aging conditions in indoor weathering chambers

Main technical features

Glass and polymeric mirror samples are exposed at two different natural sites in Morocco. The first site is situated near Rabat city on the Atlantic shore with a very salty and humid atmosphere, where the second one is situated in the centre of Morocco near Ouarzazate city having a desertic climate.

Innovative aspects

This work requires much time of outdoor and artificial ageing to better understand mirror ageing but gives tools to understand the various kinds of degradation observed outdoor.

Applications

The outdoor ageing established in desert area will give us better references to understand the durability of mirror for CSP application.

Tasks to be performed by the partner you are looking for.

MASCIR (Moroccan foundation for advanced Science, Innovation and Research-Morocco) and CEA (French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission) collaborate in a study with the main objective to understand the mechanisms of degradation occurring at each kind of mirror tested.
